What We Do
The heart of RPA activity is its administration of the RPA Designation, though there's much more to RPA than that.
RPA Designation. The Society of RPA establishes and administers the sophisticated criteria by which professional claims adjusters can qualify to receive the RPA Designation, which formally recognizes their professional achievements in education, professional ethics, and years of service.
Continuing Education. Another large part of RPA's activity involves tracking Continuing Education (CE) courses successfully completed by its designees. Once adjusters are awarded the RPA Designation, they are required to successfully complete 15 units of RPA-certified Continuing Education courses every year to maintain the designation. RPA "CE" courses cover such topics as relevant new technologies, fraud detection, industry policies and procedures, and many others related to insurance claims.
Reciprocal Recognition (US) and Global Recognition. A fundamental long-term Society of RPA objective is to establish the RPA Designation as the recognized global standard of excellence among professional claims adjusters. In the U. S., we want the RPA Designation to become the means by which state insurance regulators recognize the competence of professional adjusters for reciprocal licensing purposes. In practical terms, this means that adjusters who have earned the RPA Designation could be licensed without hesitation by any state where their work is needed and such licensing is required. The Society of RPA already is working toward this key objective.
Peer Communications. Through our online Member Listings (see next item), members can find contact information for other members around the world. Members contact other members through our Member Listings to compare notes, bounce ideas off peers, or simply keep in touch. Prospective members (candidates for the RPA Designation) should feel free to contact RPA or its members to ask about the benefits of qualifying for the RPA Designation and of RPA Membership.
Member Listings. The RPA maintains a listing of RPA Designees who continue to maintain their good standing through continuing education and sustained professionalism. This listing is available here on our website for public inspection by customers, potential customers, RPA Designees, and state regulators.
